October 15: Our plane from the Galapagos landed in Guayquil, Ecuador for our final leg of the journey. This is a city of 3 million people. The riverfront malecon was beautiful. We also discovered the president of Ecuador's residence was just around the corner from our hotel. That explained the soldiers with machine guns.
Tomorrow is our last day, so we took the tram for a skyline tour across town. Although the tram works fine around the clock we discovered the street lights and stores were without power. We decided to stroll about and had our last night with our friends at the hotel for dinner. It was great to hear everyone's best and least favorite experiences. Hugs and long goodbyes were shared by all. We all wish our paths will cross again. Maybe during another Exoticca trip?
With fond memories, Sandi
